Laci Stone

Where to begin.... We will try from the beginning. Laci was born July 1st, 2003, to Haydan and Chelsi Stone in the big city of Nocona Texas. She was a ray of light from the moment she arrived. Laci's parents were both extremely young and found themselves starting a family centered around Laci. It was the best thing that ever happened to all of them. Laci was immediately immersed into youth activities as her family were actively still playing themselves. She found herself at ball games and being passed around in the stands to family and friends from the youngest of ages.

In the following years, Laci became extremely active in many sporting activities with local youth programs from volleyball, basketball, as well as softball (where she instantly thrived). Sports did not come easy to Laci though. She had to work hard at being successful with sports. Her ability to grow as an athlete took long hours and a lot of hustle, but her talents began to show through as she developed into a teenager. Laci fell in love with volleyball and softball early on as she found herself to be stronger at them than most other sports. She picked up playing on travel teams and found a passion for the game and her newfound friends from across the local counties. Building skill sets while also building lifelong friendships and bonds had become the foundation of Laci's love for these sports. This foundation later became an identification of hers by all that knew her.

Growing into a young lady, now in high school, Laci had a solid foundation of who she was. She was a mature, fun spirited young adult with a way about her that helped bring the best out of everyone around her. Laci was the friend most girls always needed but didn't realize how important it was to have. She was just always there, showing support, and backing up her team. She was a leader on the softball team with big roles as a pitcher and infielder. She also found her way very well around the volleyball court. For a girl with limited vertical abilities, she was a leading blocker and a clutch hitter from the right side of the net. Laci had become her own person and a leader amongst her peers. She never took away from anyone else and aided everyone she could at building their character and abilities within themselves.

While in high school, Laci was involved in volleyball, basketball, track, softball, and golf. She was a mentor in the Paals program, a member of Northside Landmark Missionary Baptist church, a member of Mu Alpha Theta, and graduated an honor graduate.

In May of 2021, Laci had the opportunity to visit the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM. The coach wanted Laci to come check out their golf program. While visiting, Laci completely fell in love with the Rockwinds Community Link golf course and decided that USW would be where she attended college. In August, Laci loaded up her jeep and moved to Hobbs to start playing golf and attend the business school at USW. Her future plans were to open up her own training facility that would be specifically for girls and women to fall in love with the sport of golf just like she had. Laci finished her first semester on the President's list, playing in some golf tournaments, and making lots of new friends. She loved her new golf family. Laci had found a church in Hobbs that she loved attending and was ready to take on a role with the youth. Her faith was extremely important to her and she loved kids so she was ready to help youth with their love for God. She was excited to go back to school her second semester and finish out her year on a high note. She was eager to keep practicing and get her golf game better and better. Unfortunately, that dream was cut short, along with her coach and teammates dreams, on March 15, 2022.

Our goal is to help kids make it to college and one day do our part in helping more kids fall in love with golf.
